The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) is the professional association for nurses in Australia. Recognising that nurses often sacrifice their own health and well-being by caring for others, ACN launched the NurseStrong project in 2018. By connecting like-minded nurses and providing wellness tools and inspiration, NurseStrong aims to motivate nurses to enhance their physical, mental and spiritual strength.  
 
In this latest NurseStong initiative ACN and Mindful Innovative Action are teaming up to encourage you to explore different ways to manage stress and discover practices you can incorporate into your daily routine.

We are so excited that you are embarking on the Five Week Stress Less Challenge with us. Be sure to also join the NurseStrong Group on Facebook to share your experiences and engage with other nurses participating in the challenge.

Why do you need this challenge?
 
Because stress impacts on every aspect of your life and
lets face it so far 2020 has not been the most relaxing year!!

Stress impacts on your mental wellbeing and physical health, as well as your relationships and ability to empathise and support others.
 
Don't worry you can reset.

This 5 week challenge borrows elements from Mindful Innovative Action's very popular 'Stress Less, Live Well' 8 week mindfulness course.  

Plus gives you a range of other options to try and see if they fit with you and your lifestyle, the aim being that you find your preferred way to unwind and manage stress on a daily basis.

Plus if you haven't experienced the support of the NurseStrong community yet, then you are in for a treat, they are a pretty awesome bunch of people and they are your cheer squad.

Plus you can relax and know that all of Mindful Innovative Actions programs are based in research and science, no airy fairy stuff here, because we are nerdy like that and we are Nurses too and believe in evidence!!!

Maintaining your mental health and wellbeing is a critical part of being healthy and resilient.  Over the last 10 years I have led a research and maintenance team in Antarctica over winter, worked in Saudi Arabia for the Worlds biggest oil company, run health services in some of the remotest places on earth.  The most important skill that I needed in all these roles has been the ability to maintain my mental wellbeing and manage stress and anxiety effectively.  For fun, I have also studied Psychology, Positive Behaviour Support, Behaviour Analysis & Behavioural Profiling (DiSC) and I am a Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation facilitator. My passion lies in helping people get access to the support that they need so that they can have the successful lives they want.
